"We
want that education by which character is formed, strength of mind
is increased, the intellect is expanded and by which one can stand
on one's own feet." Swami Vivekananda.
The
Genesis : Enabling education is cornerstone of a progressive
society.Quality school education holds paramount importance in
preparing a character-driven, value-based, self-confident and
achieving young generation. While the demand forces are overwhelming,
distinctively satisfying educational institutions; particularly at
school level; are few and far between.
Soham Foundation
recognized this and, as an extension of its commitment to social
endeavours, decided to create an institution with a difference:
Nalanda Public School.
The inspiration and guiding sprit
behind this school is Principal (late) S R Nagraj Rao, an
educationist, poet, social worker and master craftsman, recognized
for building personalities of people associated with him. Prin. Rao
believed that "Education should facilitate building bridges of
understanding, integrate values both in school and at home and thus
empower a child for life."
The School

encompasses the knowledge, the humans and the material wealth. The
prayer is :

The Nalanda Perspective on Education Education
demonstrates a noble developmental role. It is a vehicle to derive
the following: 1. It must enlighten and enrich the child's
character. This is achieved by active participation and willingness
for transformation.
2. It must be of a quality that will
prepare students to be intellectually self-reliant and promote
independent thought process so that the child becomes a
self-propelled knowledge seeker.
Nalanda considers awakening
the power to learn from life in the young minds as its fundamental
task. And for this, children need to be exposed to educational
inputs at a suitable pace. To accomplish this, our agenda is: 1.
Providing enriching learning programs and quality teaching practices
2. Cultivating self esteem, motivation, self discipline,
independence and a positive attitude to learning.
3.
Encouraging collaborative mode and building attitude to respect
individual diversity.
